Hello, Fashion Fans,

As promised, we will look at the fashion of Taylor Swift and The Duchess of Cambridge.  For quite awhile now I have been thinking of hosting a blog, and finally, I was prompted to move forward with the creation of Fashion Fanfare once I saw the gorgeous Reem Acra gown on Taylor Swift at the Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace.  Although not many of us are attending balls or galas at palaces this month, there are formal events to attend on occasion.  If any of you are lucky enough to have a black tie/white tie event or wedding in your near future, consider these pieces.

The first dress we look at is available at Lord & Taylor.  It is the Lauren Ralph Lauren Matte Jersey Surplice Ruffled Brooch Gown.  Although not as close to Taylor Swift's dress as I had hoped, it does have that fabulous silk ruffle running down the skirt.  Currently, it is on sale for $134.99.  It regularly retails for $240.

Lord & Taylor describes the dress this way: "A stunning crystal brooch and cascading silk ruffle imbue this exquisite matte jersey Lauren Ralph Lauren gown with timeless glamour. Features a crossover surplice neckline with crystal brooch at left, a sleeveless silhouette, gentle ruching along left bodice, cascading silk ruffle and a front slit from knee to hem."

Next, we look at the Eliza J Embellished Tiered Chiffon Halter Gown from Nordstrom.  It comes in a champagne color and retails for $238.  Nordstrom describes the dress as "An opulently embellished halter neckline anchors the ruched bodice and sweeping tiered skirt of a wispy chiffon gown, accentuated by a finely pleated Empire-waistband."

At the moment, these dresses are the closest I could find to a Taylor Swift lookalike.  The design is fairly simple, so I am certain we will see scooped-neck dresses, beaded/sequined bodices and chiffon skirts with a long ruffle on ready-to-wear gowns in the coming weeks/months.  As these dresses appear, I will update the post.

Fortunately, The Duchess of Cambridge's Odele Sheepskin Coat has been re-issued by Temperley London.  It retails for $3280.  The coat is "made of luxuriously soft sheepskin, it has the suede side of the skin facing out and is lined with flat haired sheepskin allowing a snug and flattering fit. The cut is feminine and sharp with a nipped in waist. Leather trim and gold metal hardware complete the look."  Kate first wore the coat in November 2012, and she has been seen in the coat several times since then.  Currently, there are a couple repli-Kates on the market.

The first repli-Kate is MICHAEL Michael Kors Coat, Asymmetrical Belted Wool-Blend, currently on sale at Macy's for $189.99.  It regularly retails for $275.  It is made of wool/polyester/rayon with a polyester lining.  It has an asymmetrical front zip closure, long sleeves with buckle tabs and belt loops which hold a belt.  Macy's describes the coat this way: "Nodding to edgy motorcycle styling, this MICHAEL Michael Kors coat features an asymmetrical zipper and gold-toned hardware. A coordinating belt keeps the look sophisticated."  The coat is also available in red, sapphire and white.

Macy's also offers the BCBGeneration Coat, Double-Breasted Wool-Blend Hooded High-Low.  Currently, it is on sale for $179.99.  It regularly retails for $280.  At the time of this post, the coat is only available in a size Medium.  Macy's describes it as "the perfect coat for day or night.  [It] features a cute high-low hem and removable button-off hood!"  It is made of wool/polyester/rayon and faux leather.  It has zip pockets at hips with fake leather trim.

Until next time, Happy Shopping!  and Stay Glamorous!  :)
